Symptom
The following text might occur in Workload Analysis
1. Value "{name}" for variable "E2E Metric Type Variable(multiple values)" is invalid
or
2. "No Applicable Data Found"
Disclaimer: "Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."
Environment
- SAP Solution Manager 7.1
- SAP Solution Manager 7.2
Cause
For symptom 1, it is in very rarely cases caused by BW query issue, and in general it indicates that data of this metric type has never successfully collected and further loaded into Solution Manager BI client.
For symptom 2, it mostly indicates that no data of that metric type for this managed system can be found in the certain period in Workload Analysis, however there must be at least one managed system has ever this kind of data collected and loaded into Solution Manager system BI client.
Resolution
For both cases, please always download and apply the latest version of config xml file for your Solution Manager SP level from SAP Note 1259109 to avoid errors due to the old config xml.
- For symptom 1, perform the steps below to trouble shoot if this is a normal behavior.
a. Goto listcube and enter the infocube 0SMD_MPEH
b. Press F4 to the field "Metric Type" and search for the metric type in the error of workload analysis to verify if it really doesn't exist in the list.
c. For further testing, select one metric from the list and execute it as below, in general there should be historical data for at least one system in the result.
d. Open the config xml file that you use in your system in text editor and search for the Metric Type
e. Go to Wily workstation and enter the Expression of metric to verify whether data of this metric for that host or system can be seen in Wily. If not, that means either data collection has issue or the functions in the managed system are not used at all. For the first case, please see step f and g. As for the second case, this is normal behavior that no data in Wily can be seen since no relevant activities have ever occur in managed system.
f. In case the metric in Wily should locate under "SAP Host Agent" node since AgentType is Host as defined in the screenshot, the log files of Diagnosics Agent should be checked. Or you can create a new case in SV-SMG-DIA and attach the Support Logs as mentioned in SAP Note 1076573.
g. In case the metric in Wily should locate under node that is covered by Introscope Bytecode Agent e.g. under the node "SAP Netweaver", the log files of Bytecode Agent should be checked as mentioned in SAP Note 1306843.
h. If metric exists in Wily and data can be seen there, that means data collection up to Wily is OK, there must be something wrong with Solution Manager system so that data cannot be loaded from Wily into BI client. Please check extractors in extractor framework, steps in managed system configuration and extractor framework batch job "EFWK RESOURCE MANAGER" and "E2E BI HOUSEKEEPING". - For symptom 2, the investigation direction is to verify why this kind of data for this managed system in that time frame cannot be found in workload analysis. The start point is always to verify data availability in Wily and perform step f, g and h above. Also, SAP Note 1435043 might be helpful to resolve the issue.
