2044238 - You Cannot Access the Travel Admin Work Center

Symptom

Even though the Key User has assigned the Travel Administrator role to a user, this user cannot access the Travel Admin work center with a HTML5 client.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. The Key User navigates to Application and User Management work center.
    1. Select Business User view under User and Access Management section.
    2. Find the required user. Click Edit and then Access Rights.
    3. Choose Business Role Assignment tab.
    4. Check the Travel Administrator checkbox.
    5. Click Save and then Close.
  2. The user logs on to the system with HTML5 client.
    1. The user can neither see the Travel Admin work center nor launch the Silverlight client from within the HTML5 client.

Cause

To access the Travel Admin work center the user must use Silverlight client.
In general we recommend for all users to use the HMTL5 client. However the following users need Microsoft Silverlight:

  • The initial user.
  • Travel administrator.
  • System administrator.
  • All users if Microsoft Silverlight is the preferred client.

When the Key User assign the Travel Administrator role to a user, the Flexibility Change Log view is not automatically assigned, so the Key User will have to assign it for the user to launch Silverlight from within the HTML5 client.

Resolution

  1. The Key User navigates to Application and User Management work center.
    1. Select Business Roles view under User and Access Management section.
    2. Choose All Business Roles in the drop-down list and then click Go.
    3. Select Travel Administrator business role and then click Edit.
    4. Choose Work Center and View Assignments tab.
    5. Expand ITS_APPLICATIONUSERMANAGEMENT / Application and User Management.
    6. Check ITS_KEYUSERCHANGELOG / Flexibility Change Log checkbox.
    7. Click Save and then Confirm.
  2. The user logs on to the system.
    1. Select Adapt menu.
    2. The user is now able to click Launch in Microsoft Silverlight.
    3. The Travel Admin work center is now enabled for this user with Silverlight client.

PS: You can also log on to the system with Silverlight client by adding the client_type=sl string in the system URL. In this case there is no need to launch Silverlight from HTML5 client as you are logging on to the system directly in Silverlight:
