Symptom
You receive alert 'Total Memory of HANA Rowstore' (Alert ID 68). The table below gives an overview about the technical limits for the maximum size of the rowstore and the default thresholds of alerts.
Revision | Technical Limit | LOW | MEDIUM | HIGH | Comment |
< 80 | 768 GB | 500 GB | 600 GB | 700 GB | Old Statistics Server |
80 - 82 | ~ 1,9 TB | 70 % | 80 % | 90 % | New embedded Statistics Server (when activated) |
≥ 83 | ~ 1,9 TB | 70 % | 80 % | 90 % | New embedded Statistics Server (activated by default) |
It is recommended to configure this alert in a way that low / medium alerts are raised for performance reason, while the priority high alert should trigger immediate action to prevent a database crash. Appropriate thresholds for very large systems should be discussed with SAP experts.
Rowstore size has a direct impact on the start-up time of any SAP HANA system and on fail-over-times in system replication and high availability scenarios, since the rowstore must be loaded to memory completely before the system is available to end users.
Further potential issues are listed in SAP Note 1963779.
Note that data loss can occur in HANA Revisions < 69.02 or Revision 70 (also see SAP Note 1963791).
