2052511 - Unhandled Error (HTTP Status 500): unmarshall.invalid.xml error when creating a model or copying an environment in BPC Administration

Symptom

When creating a new model or copying an environment in BPC Administration, the procedure fails with the error Unhandled Error (HTTP Status 500): unmarshall.invalid.xml

Additionaly, there are dumps on ST22 in the back-end related to duplicate database keys:

Runtime Errors         DBSQL_DUPLICATE_KEY_ERROR
Except.                CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
ABAP Program           SAPLRSDG_CUBE_DB_WRITE

Runtime Errors         CALL_FUNCTION_REMOTE_ERROR
Open SQL array insert produces duplicate records in the database.
