2053664 - Repository Diagnostic Tool (RepoScan) crashes and reports, "Internal error: An unknown exception has occurred."

Symptom

  • Repository Diagnostic Tool (RepoScan) runs for a long period of time, then ultimately drops out of memory, reporting the error:
    • Internal error: An unknown exception has occurred.
  • The issue is far more likely to occur when using the -repair switch, however in theory that is not required
  • Subsequent investigation confirms the reposcan.exe (or reposcan.sh) process reached 2gb of resident memory leading up to the error.
