2054762 - SAP Afaria Self-Service Portal or Afaria Administrator returns Server Error page during logon

Symptom

When browsing to the SAP Afaria Self-Service Portal or Administrator, the server returns a HTTP 500 error, and an error page results:

  • Server Error in '/<AppVirtualDirectoryName>' Application
  • Runtime Error
  • Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

This error presents during logon, but slightly differently based on the Authentication type:

  • Windows Authentication: After the login prompt is presented to the user, and credentials have been entered\submitted.
  • LDAP\Active Directory: When attempting to visit the logon page.

After following the instructions in SAP Knowledge Base Article 1887286, and visiting the webpage from the server, more information is available in the error page:

  • Server Error in '/<AppVirtualDirectoryName>' Application
  • An error occurred when verifying security for the message
  • Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
  • Exception Details: System.ServiceModel.FaultException: An Error occurred when verifying the security for the message.
  • In the stack trace details, the following is included: MessageSecurityException: An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail.
