2061143 - Dump database fails with Open server error 16104.10.1 Unable to allocate stack size 131072 for new thread - ASE

Symptom

  • Dump database will fail with these errors.

Can't open a connection to site 'SYB_BACKUP' because 'set up channel' message was not acknowledged.
Open Server Error: 16104.10.1: Unable to allocate stack, size 131072, for new thread

  • Monitoring memory the SIZE column will continue to increase using 'ps gv'  <pid for backupserver>. Eventually the available memory gets exceeded and openserver cannot get a stack off the heap which is where the stack info comes into play.
