2068443 - ALTER LOGIN command cannot change a password for an expired login account - ASE

Symptom

  • Change a password for an expired login account using ALTER LOGIN command
  • ALTER LOGIN command fails with a 7742 error.

1> alter login userA with password testuser modify password testAAA
2> go

Msg 7742, Level 16, State 1:
Server 'xxxxxx', Line 1:
You must change your password using the sp_password system stored procedure
before you can continue.
