• This Article describes the behavior of the expected value for the date fields(start, end, due dates)in the goals that are copied in the new goal plan;
• When they copy a goal from one plan to another, the start and due dates do not change. They do not automatically reflect the default values of the new goal plan;
• When they copy a goal from one plan to another, the start and due dates automatically update to the default values of the new goal plan;
• Some of your employees report that the start and due dates behave two different ways when they copy goals from another template;

The two behaviors will depend on whether or not the dates of the original goal were updated prior to being copied.

Example situation

• Let us assume that you have a 2013 goal plan with 1/1/2013 as its start date and 12/31/2013 as its due date and a 2014 goal plan with 1/1/2014 as its start date and 12/31/2014 as its due date.
• When you create a goal for 2013 the dates are automatically assigned based on the default dates 1/1/2013 start date and 12/31/2013 due date.
• If in that 2013 goal, the dates of that goal were ever edited after or during goal creation, then any new goals copied to the 2014 plan will retain the dates from the 2013 goal.
• If in that 2013 goal, the dates of that goal were never edited, and remain the default value, then any new goals copied to the 2014 plan will update to the default values of the 2014 goal plan(1/1/2014 start date and 12/31/2014).
