Symptom
This KB article explains how to make a library available for external users.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Resolution
- This functionality already exists in LMS and is called "Sites";
- More than one site may be active at the same time.
Create a New Site
- Go to System Administration > Application Admin > Sites >
- Click Add New >
- Give the site a Site ID, Security Domain ID, Active Locale & Time Zone >
- After the site is created, access it by navigating to the Site's URL.
Assign a Library to a Site
- Go to Learning Administration > System Administration > Application Admin > Sites >
- Search for and open the site you want to create the catalog assignment for >
- In the Summary, look at the values of Default Security Domain ID and Default Organization ID. These are the two attributes that you may use to flag users who should see a library >
- Create an assignment profile that captures the users of the site (Use the site's security domain and/or organization) >
- The key attribute is often users' security domain as most companies keep the site users in their own security domain, and it is the same security domain as the default security domain in System Administration > Application Admin > Sites:
- Go to Manage User Learning > Assignment Profiles and then click Add New >
- Go to Rules tab >
- Add a Security Domain >
- In Setup Rules, set Select Attribute as Security Domain ID >
- Security Domain is the most common attribute to group site users by because a default domain is required;
- The second most common attribute is organization because sites also allow you to select a default organization;
- If you want to use organization as your grouping attribute, select Organization ID;
- You cannot select User ID as an attribute for this activity.
Note: If setting the Site's Default Organization ID, you must include the same in the Assignment Profile rules.
- In the operator list, select Matches >
- In the value box, type the domain from the sites list >
- If you are using organization, type the ID of the organization >
- Click Save and then close the rules window >
- In the Library tab, add the library you want the users (the users of the site) to access >
- Propagate the assignment profile (in the Actions menu).
User Experience
- Users and guests can browse the library without having to authenticate.
Note: It is not possible to remove the Library tab from the login page.
