Symptom

  • This article highlights the way to change case senstivity searching at a system level in Learning.

Environment

  • Learning

Resolution

  • To modify your global case-sensitivity default to be non-case-sensitive, you will need to update the following section of the SEARCH configuration framework (System Admin > Configuration > System Configuration - SEARCH):

#Case Sensitive Settings for all searches in the LMS.
#if useGlobalCaseSensitivitySetting enabled the value of globalCaseSensitive is used and
#the setting for case sensitivity in each search selector is ignored.
useGlobalCaseSensitivitySetting=true
globalCaseSensitive=true

  • If you set the useGlobalCaseSensitivity property is set to true, then the system ignores the case sensitivity settings on search selectors. Set to false to control case sensitivity on the search selector level.
  • The globalCaseSensitive property is active if the useGlobalCaseSensitivity is set to true. Set globalCaseSensitivity to true to make the search case sensitive by default. Set to false to make it not case sensitive by default.
