2074821 - How can I change the search filters so it contains dropdown menus?

Symptom

There are times when a dropdown list of items may be helpful in a search page rather than the default search magnifying glass.

Resolution

  1. Navigate to System Administration >
  2. Configuration >
  3. Search Selectors >
  4. Locate the desired search selector you would like to update >
  5. At the bottom of the selector, there is code that can be updated to make the change >
  6. Change the "dropDownEnabled=false" to "dropDownEnabled=true" >
  7. Apply Changes.

Please note that the enablement of this configuration may affect the performance. If you have a huge number of entities to which you have "dropDownEnabled=true", the system will take longer to load pages related to this entity creation or edit.

Don't make this change if you have a large number of users/items, it will directly impact the performance.

Note: Search selectors can be customized, however they're not supported, nor validated in tests for any new releases. If there are changes to the standard search selector code, a redesign of the custom search selector code might be needed. The search selector customization is handled by the SAP team that delivers services and by SAP Certified Partners (KBA 2149831).
