2076222 - SAP ASE upgrade via saphostctrl fails and does not show correct release - SAP ASE for BS

Symptom

  • You are upgrading SAP ASE to version 16.0 using saphostctrl.
  • The process fails due to unidentifiable Operating System errors during the upgrade, as reported in the corresponding upgrade.rdbms.sh output files.
  • If or when ASE is restarted (as part of the upgrade process or manually), you find the following message:

server WARNING: ***************************
server ASE booted against master device for different release. This message is to be expected during an upgrade. ASE version 16.0, Master device version 15.0
server WARNING: ***************************

  • You run saphostctrl again in an attempt to proceed with the ASE upgrade.
However, saphostctrl, at this point, reports that the ASE server is already upgraded to ASE 16.0.
