2076699 - You are not able to scrap Fixed Asset as Cost center does not exist in profit center

You are not able to scrap Fixed Asset 123 (123 represents the Fixed Asset ID) due to error message Cost Center XYZ (XYZ represents the Cost Center) does not exist in Profit Center DEF (DEF represents the Profit Center).

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Open Fixed Asset Work Center.
2. Select View/Subview Fixed Assets.
3. Select Fixed Asset 123 and click Manual Posting - Complete Scrapping.
4. Enter the respective data in fields Document Date, Posting Date, Description.
5. Use the default options Journal Entry Type 00059 - Manual Posting for Fixed Asset and Closing Step 010 - Operational postings.
6. Click Simulate, Journal Entry will be simulated successfully.
7. Click Back and then on Post.
8. You will see the following error message:

Error Message: Cost center XYZ does not exist in profit center DEF

The start date of the cost center is later than the start date for the assignment interval of the fixed asset.

1. Open Cost and Revenue Work Center.
2. Navigate to Master Data - Cost Centers.
3. Search for Cost Center XYZ.

You see that this Cost Center is valid from date dd.mm.yyyy onwards.

1. Open Fixed Asset Work Center.
2. Select View/Subview Fixed Assets and click Edit - Master Data.
3. Under Tab Basic Data you see that start date for the Assignment Interval of Fixed Asset 123 is earlier than dd.mm.yyyy.

1. Open Fixed Asset Work Center.
2. Select View/SubviewFixed Assets and click Edit - Master Data.
3. Navigate to Sub-Tab Basic Data.
4. Under Header All Assignment Intervals click Add Row.
5. Add a new Assignment Interval with a date later than creation date of Cost Center XYZ.
6. Confirm with Save.

Afterwards you should be able to scrap the Fixed Asset.

This scenario only appears for migrated fixed assets.
If you create a fixed asset in SAP ByDesign it is not possible to create an assignment interval which is earlier than the start date of the cost center.
