2077655 - New Material Cost Estimate - Creation of Material Cost Estimate Failed

When performing a new material cost estimate an error message appears: 'Creation of material cost estimate failed'.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Inventory Valuation workcenter and select the common task New Cost Estimate.
2. Enter all the mandatory data, such as the Product, Business Residence, Valid From Date and Explosion Date.
3. Select Simulate.
4. The error message appears: 'Creation of material cost estimate failed'.

Provided that there is no no material cost estimate run or released with the same or later Valid From Date,  the reason for the error is that the production model of the material is invalid.

Checking the Production model for the material:

1. Go to Planning and Production Master Data work center.
2. Go to Production Models view.
3. Select All Productions Models by selection.
4. Search for the material ID: XYZ (XYZ represents the material ID). 
5. You can see validity(Valid From/To) in Details tab. You find that the production model is invalid on the Material Cost Estimate Valid From Date.

You can set the validity of the related production model with following steps:

1. Go to Planning and Production Master Data work center and Production Models view.
2. Select the production model of the related material and press Edit.
3. In the Valid To field enter a date later than the Valid From Date in the new material cost estimate.
4. Select Save and then execute the material cost estimate again.
