2078157 - Session aborts with Error 940 "Dbtable in wrong state for operation ..." when executing sp_downgrade_esd or SELECT against db_attr() - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Execution of the sp_downgrade_esd system stored procedure
  • Execution of SELECT db_attr() with 'list_dump_fs' or 'get_dump_fs' options
  • Running on Solaris x64 platform
  • Process terminates with errors:

       Msg 940, Level 26, State 11:
       Procedure 'sp_downgrade_esd', Line 1466:
       Dbtable in wrong state for operation: DBTABLE pointer = 0xfffffd7ff6cfc582, dbid = 0, state = 0x0, status= 0x2, keep = 0, system task keep = 0, name = 'b1'.
       Msg 5702, Level 10, State 1:
       Procedure 'sp_downgrade_esd', Line 1466:
       ASE is terminating this process.
     
  • ASE errorlog reports error and stack trace which may include modules:

       dbt_unkeep()
       bi_db_attr()
