This article outlines the process of creating new Variable Pay plans.

Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Variable Pay
Resolution
From Admin Center go to Compensation> Compensation Home.
Here you will find the following options to add templates. For Variable Pay select "Add new variable pay plan".
On the next page you can define the program/plan details.
This feature enabled the administrator to create a new program from scratch without needing assistance from a partner/professional services.
The following is a breakdown for the available options in settings once you created the program/plan.
These can be found under Plan Setup> Settings> Settings.
Program Name
- Name of your program/plan.
- Avoid using special characters here as this may cause issues with the template.
Program ID
- This is a non-editable system generated ID.
Background Section ID
- This is your background element which is defined in the succession datamodel.

Bonus Start/End date
- This is generally the start and end of your planning cycle.
Compensation Hierarchy
- This can be defined from Plan Setup> Manage Users> Define Planners.

Display program dates instead of outlying assignment dates
- Yes or No options
Apply Proration at the end of section calculation
- Yes or No options
Apply Bonus Plan Multiplier for section calculation
- Yes or No options
Multiplier Value
- This is a numerical value
Display Assignment Records in Manager Form
- Ascending or descending options
Freeze Column(s) for Scrolling
- We recommended this option is selected
Currency Views
- Available views are Functional, Planner, User and any currency.
Conversion rate table
- This is a table which is used for your currency conversions.
Apply gates for business goals
- Yes or No options based on business requirements
Apply accelerators for business goals
- Yes or No options based on business requirements
Apply proration rounding
- Start Date <= of the month, then round up to the beginning of the current month
(if the start date is greater than the day of the month specified, then the start date will be prorated to the beginning of the next month)
- End Date >= of the month, then round up to the end of the current month
