The Original Start Date field is designed to store the employee’s very first hire date.
- During a hire action (via Add New Employee, Manage Pending Hires, or Manage Inactive Employee wizards), the field Original Start Date under Employment Information is automatically populated with the Effective Start Date of the first Hire record.
- This value comes from the Hire Date field.
- If the employee is later terminated and rehired, the Hire Date field under Employment Details will update to reflect the latest Hire record’s Effective Start Date (e.g., the Rehire record), but the Original Start Date continues to show the first hire date.
