2082794 - Which Data Manager packages have options to bypass the check for work status and which tasks are associated with these options

Symptom

The majority of Data Manager packages and the associated Tasks in the BW backend do not provide options regarding ignoring work status states.

Executing these packages to modify data on a locked data region will fail unless the data region is unlocked. For instance, executing the Default Formulas package will fail if the data region is locked.

However, there can often be need for mass clearing or copying of data within an environment regardless of the work status. For this reason, the "Clear", "Copy", "Move" and "Append" data manager packages have the option to check work status settings when executed. The standard version of these packages provides a radio button to bypass the checking of work status when executing the package.

The following Tasks are enabled to skip the work status check:

  • TASK /CPMB/APPEND_LOAD
  • TASK /CPMB/APPEND_LOAD_DELTA_IP
  • TASK /CPMB/CLEAR_COMMENTS
  • TASK /CPMB/CLEAR_COMMENTS_FOR_CLEAR
  • TASK /CPMB/CLEAR_CUBE
  • TASK /CPMB/CLEAR_DATA
  • TASK /CPMB/CLEAR_SOURCE_CUBE
  • TASK /CPMB/COPY_COMMENTS
  • TASK /CPMB/LOAD
  • TASK /CPMB/LOAD_IP
  • TASK /CPMB/LOAD_PSA

Additionally, the TASK /CPMB/CLEAR_COMMENTS_FOR_CLEAR executed by the Clear Data Manager package provides the option to clear comments associated with a data region and check if there is any journal data for the data region being cleared.

It is simple to modify the existing packages or create a new package to hide this option and force the check of work status settings. Selecting the "Advanced" tab of any of these packages when modifying the package will present you with the prompts and tasks executed by these packages. If you wish to force the checking of the work status setting, simply comment out or delete the radio button prompt for the option and hard code the required variable for the associated Task.

NOTE:

Executing a Data Manager package with a user ID with the profile SAP_ALL may bypass the work status check and unexpectedly modify data that is locked. The authorization profile SAP_ALL should be reserved only for one or two super-users who need all SAP authorizations in the BW backend and should not be associated with any user executing BPC functions.
