Resolution
When the former employee status is changed in SuccessFactors from Active to Inactive, their status in Jam and Work Zone will change to "Alumni".
As mentioned in the guide Internal Users | SAP Help Portal you only have the option from the Action menu > "Clear Profile". The setting deletes the profile information, not the alumni user's content and feed items.
This is because Alumin users content remain. All their comments, documents, videos and groups remain intact and nothing is ever deleted.
