Symptom
- We use the term Member to refer to a person who is on the form. This article explains why after adding, removing or moving a member from a compensation form it can be erroneously sent back to its previous form.

2084284 - This article explains why after adding, removing or moving a member from a compensation form it can be erroneously sent back to its previous form.
Environment
- Compensation
Cause
- Nightly or Manual Employee Import settings are set to move members.
Resolution
Members are moved and displayed correctly in the new forms but the company runs an Employee Import where Compensation and/or Variable Pay data is updated with the following options checked:
- New Hire:
- Add new employee to variable pay/compensation worksheet.
- Add new employee to variable pay/compensation worksheet.
- Change in Employee’s Manager and/or Second Manager:
- Move employee's variable pay/compensation data from old manager to current manager.
- Move employee's variable pay/compensation data from old manager to current manager.
- As the data in the existing forms will not match the data in the User Data File being imported, the system will not consider the Move/Add/Delete as changes and will update them to the “correct” user directory structure imported.
- To avoid this situation ensure any manual Employee Import with compensation data or any Employee Import job scheduled in Provisioning have the Add and Move options unchecked for Compensation and/or Variable Pay.
Alternative Workaround
- This option could be considered a last resort if you are just not able to uncheck these options during your process and you also need to continue to make employee imports that would trigger changes.
- Another option is to create a “ghost” compensation/variable pay form for the same users that have been moved/deleted and that are not supposed to be sent back to their previous forms and planners. By creating this second form we can do the employee imports selecting the Add and Move features and the system will not modify our forms as it will not be able to know on which form (the form used by the planner and the ghost form) it has to do the change. You will receive an email notification specifying an “error” as the move haven’t been done as there are two forms created for that member.
