2084866 - date_diff() produces a negative value and in previous versions it only returned positive integers - Data Services

Symptom

  • date_diff produces a negative value (i.e. date_diff('2012-12-13 00:00:00', '2012-12-12 00:00:00', 'D') = -1). This is contrary to documentation of date_diff functionality and breaks existing code in the migration from 4.1 to 4.2 SP3
  • date_diff documentation states:  "This function is equivalent to interval_to_char(date1 - date2, 'fmt_str'), except if date1 is smaller than date2, the date_diff function returns a positive value"
