2085427 - ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("SOPS_GATEWAY"."CUSTOMER"."CUSTOMER_DESCRIPTION") - EIS

Symptom

  • In SAP EIS (Enterprise Inventory and Service-Level Optimization), a failure occurs when loading a new scenario/supply chain during the topology creation phase and you see errors in the EIS Application Server log like the following:
    • gw_pack_create_topology.build_topology ( ) SQLException ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ()
      ORA-06512: at line 1
      ORA-06512: at "SOPS_GATEWAY.PACK_LOADER_UTILITY", line 499
      ORA-06512: at "SOPS_GATEWAY.PACK_CREATE_TOPOLOGY", line 6172

    • ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ()
      ORA-06512: at line
      ORA-06512: at "SOPS_GATEWAY.PACK_LOADER_UTILITY", line 49
      ORA-06512: at "SOPS_GATEWAY.PACK_CREATE_TOPOLOGY", line 159
      ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("SOPS_GATEWAY"."CUSTOMER"."CUSTOMER_DESCRIPTION"
      ORA-06512: at line 1

  • You will also see entries like the following in the ERROR_LOG table in the SOPS_GATEWAY schema: 

             error_log_capture.JPG

  • Note that the PROCEDURE_NAME could be different depending on the source of your forecast data.  Possible values are:  process_customer_source_dmd, process_customer_source_stg or process_customer_source_pers,
