Functionality:
The best way to describe the roll forward functionality is:
- If new concepts (e.g. years, scenarios, dimension nodes, structure nodes) are introduced into a forecast in a roll forward build, then the values will come from the cube.
- If there is existing data in the forecast that has been specifically overridden then these changes should persist and cube values should not override them.
- However there are many things that you can change when rolling forward/ rebuilding a forecast that will impact the numbers.
If I Questions raised:
- Roll Forward function will move the forecast into the latest year and update the current year headcount figures of a forecast if the structure is the same.

1. Roll Forward function will move the forecast into the latest year and update the current year headcount figures of a forecast if the structure is the same.

The roll forward does not automatically update the starting year for the forecast. You need to select this on the forecast basics page. The headcounts for the new start year will come from the cube (assuming the dimensions/structure are the same) unless that year was previously in the forecast and there were overrides entered. If the dimensions/structure are not the same then this will show up on the Set Dimensions/Set Structure pages as the forecast needing repair first before the build.

If you roll forward some numbers somewhere are going to change. For a start the old starting year for the forecast is going to disappear from the forecast (as will any overrides made to headcounts for that year (because it's now in the past). In addition the user can change any number of variables as part of the roll forward/rebuild. For example they can change any of the business factors (e.g. termination rate etc). If they repair because structures/dimensions have changed then values will change.

On the Set Structure page the structure tree that is shown is the current structure from the cube (same with Set Dimensions). The application does its best to map the structural nodes in the forecast to that tree. If it can't map all historic nodes in the forecast to the tree then these nodes show up as needing repair. At this point the user needs to decide if they are going to repair the forecast or just build it. If they repair then they have to find a home for the broken nodes in the current cube structure and add these nodes to the forecast. If they build then these broken nodes will disappear from the forecast because they don't have a home. This is why we always recommend that users take a copy of the forecast before rolling forward.

No this is for the org, not for the forecast. This forces an update of the Historical Data shown in the Graphical Representation on Set Retirements.
