2086394 - Error 8201: Keep count of descriptor was expected to be 1 on saptools - SAP ASE for Business Suite

Symptom

  • ASE errorlog reports Error 8201 :

Error: 8201, Severity: 26, State: 2
Keep count of descriptor (objid=<value>, dbid=<value>) was expected to be 1. Instead 2 was found.

  • Followed by a stack trace including modules :

des__clean()
des__scavenge()
des_scavenge_for()
ptn__pdes_scavenge()
ptn__pdes_grab()

  • As a result the saptools database raises Error 1105 :

Error: 1105, Severity: 17, State: 4
Can't allocate space for object 'syslogs' in database 'saptools' because 'logsegment' segment is full/has no free extents.
If you ran out of space in syslogs, dump the transaction log. Otherwise, use ALTER DATABASE to increase the size of the segment.
