2088818 - How to view permissions and groups assigned to users via RBP Troubleshooting feature?

Symptom

  • This article describes how you can view user permissions assigned to a specific user.
  • This can be used when troubleshooting why someone cannot do something or report on something.
  • Is it possible to see the groups assigned to an user in the system?

RBP Troubleshooting > User Role and Permission Search
 
To check the permissions assigned to a user, please follow the steps below:
 
1. Navigate to Admin Center.
2. Search for "RBP Troubleshooting" feature or search for it directly from Action Search.
3. Select: "User Role and Permission Search" and Add the user in the "Access User 1" field.
4. Click on "Search".
5. Search for and or compare permission roles and user permissions of a single user (Access User 1).
6. You are able to view the user's Permission Role or Roles in the Result.
 
Note: You can also Search for and compare the roles and permissions of two users. (Access User 1 and Acess User 2).
 
Permissions and roles of the user or users are displayed in the Result table. You can click role names to check role details.

RBP Troubleshooting > Target Population Search

To check the allows you to search for the target populations that a user can access or manage based on specific permissions, please follow the steps below: 
 
1. Navigate to Admin Center.
2. Search for "RBP Troubleshooting" feature or search for it directly from Action Search.
3. Select: "Target Population Search" tab.
3. Add the user(s) in the access user fields.
Note: only employee users are supported. Input a single users into the "Access User 1" field to search for the target populations that this user can access.
Input users into both the "Access User 1" and "Access User 2" fields to compare the target popualtions for these two users.
4. Select a permission in the "Permission" field.
5. Optional: Input a specific user in the "Target User" field. You can add an employee, external onbaordee, external learner or alimni.
6. Click on "Search".
 
The Results table displays a list of permission roles that are granted to this user and include the selected permission.
 
For each permission role, you can:
  • select Target Users to view the access user's target populations under this permission role, including user assignment IDs, display names, user types, andstatus. By default, all target populations for a role are displayed. You can filter out the target users based on their user types and status.
  • select View Role Assignments to view the name and target population of each role assignment.
 
If you have entered a target user, the results display only the roles and role assignments that affect this target user.
 

RBP Troubleshooting > Compare Roles

 
To check the allows you to know the permissions in a role or compare the permissions of two roles, please follow the steps below:
 
1. Navigate to Admin Center.
2. Search for "RBP Troubleshooting" feature or search for it directly from Action Search.
3. Select: "Compare Roles" tab.
4. Select roles in the search fields.
Input a single role into the Role 1 field to search for permissions of the role. Input roles into both the Role 1 and Role 2 fields to compare the permissions of the two roles.
5. Click on "Search".
Permissions of the role or roles are displayed in the Result table.

RBP Troubleshooting > User Group Search

As an enhancement from 2511 release, it is now possible to search by groups assigned to an user:

    1. Navigate to Admin Center.
    2. Search for "RBP Troubleshooting" feature or search for it directly from Action Search.
    3. Select: "User Group Search" tab.
    4. Input a user in the "User" field.
    4. Click on "Search".
    The Results table displays the permission groups that the user belongs to. It includes the following information: group ID, group name, user type, and group type.
