2089497 - TIMEZONE Column and Supported International Time Zone Codes

Symptom

  • What are the supported time zones in the SuccessFactors Application?
  • What values can go in the TIMEZONE column of the user import file?
  • Is it possible to set up a default TIMEZONE for users? So that when importing users with the TIMEZONE field empty, it defaults to that time zone.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Resolution

  • The SuccessFactors Application uses the field "TIMEZONE" in User Data File (UDF) imported on Employee Import to determine the timezone of each user within the system.
  • All displayed and reported times will be in the user's time zone.
  • It is not possible to select a default time zone for the users. If a TIMEZONE value is not loaded, the field will be automatically populated with a default of Eastern Standard Time.
  • In proxying, the system will show the login user's time zone as the basis, not the user being proxied.
  • In the list attached, change the locales in your user import files to the values shown for the Timezone ID column. This document provides a list of time zones available in the SF system.

Timezone Logic:

  • SAP SuccessFactors HCM is using timezones defined in the Java Platform.
  • The Java Platform uses the IANA timezones: http://www.iana.org/time-zones
  • Hence SAP SuccessFactors is using the standard universal timezones defined by IANA.
  • The values to be imported are case-sensitive and must align with the guide below.
If the case-sensitivity is not adhered to, the default timezone will be applied to users.

Current timezone list:

Please refer to the lists available in the SAP Help Portal to see all supported timezones and deprecated values:

It is not possible to get all the available timezones used in SuccessFactors using ad hoc or using import/export data.

  • UTC time zone
  • All SuccessFactors datacenters are moving to the UTC time zone. As a result, you wish to understand whether there will be any impact to your integrations and if so, how to mitigate it.
