2090918 - All Demand Consumes Preceding Forecast Procedure Does not Consume Forecast From Preceding Time Buckets

Symptom

You have maintained the Demand Management Procedure for your product as All Demand Consumes Preceding Forecasts. However, you see that  the demand for the product is not consumed from the preceding time bucket but from the current time bucket.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Supply Planning work center.
  2. Navigate to the Common Tasks and select the option Forecast Consumption Report.
  3. In the Forecast Consumption Report screen enter the product for which you have view the consumption report.

You can see that an existing demand for the product is consumed by the forecast in the current  time bucket.  You will be able to see the consumed quantity under the column Consumed Forecast Quantity.

Cause

The Demand Management ProcedureAll Demand Consumes Preceding Forecasts behaves as follows. If you have an available demand for an existing time frame the system will consume and fulfill the demand from the current forecast and for the demand that is not fulfilled from the current forecast the preceding forecast is used. For example - You have a forecast of two quantity  for October and two quantity for November. A demand of three quantity is available via customer demand for November. As per the Consumption in Preceding Buckets procedure the system consumes the forecast of November first and then consumes the remaining forecast from October. You will be able to see an Unconsumed Forecast Quantity of one quantity in October and zero quantity in November.

Resolution

The system is working as designed.
