2094158 - Importing and Exporting MDF Positions in Succession Planning

This KB article provides information on how to export and import the MDF Position file data in SAP SuccessFactors.

SAP SuccessFactors Succession Management

• When using MDF Positions nomination method for Succession Planning, the Succession module stores the Position data in the Position MDF Object, leveraging the Metadata Framework (MDF) tools.
• This framework can also be used to leverage data for positions within Employee Central.
• To export or import MDF Position data, go to Admin Center > Import and Export Data.
• In this tool it is possible to export and import all generic objects active for the instance.
• By selecting the "Include Dependencies" to "Yes", all other MDF that share data with positions will also be exported.
• Key Preference:
• If you only want business key in the data, choose Business Key, and also choose Yes in the Hide External Code field.
• If you don't want business key in the data, choose External Code.
• If you want both business key and external code, choose Business Key, and also choose No in the Hide External Code field. 

Prerequisites:

• MDF Positions Nomination Method
• Import/Export permissions and target population defined for MDF Position Object. More information can be found in the sections "Assign Administrator Permissions for the Metadata Framework" and "Position Target Populations for MDF Positions" of the Succession Implementation and Administration Guide.
