Symptom

  • User session terminates unexpectedly
  • When running with a query with 3 or more UNION clauses
  • ASE errorlog reports Signal 11 in the module PopEmit<SerialCost, SerialProps>::emitMatchProperties():

Current process (hex#) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
Address hex# PopEmit<SerialCost, SerialProps>::emitMatchProperties(bool)+0x29()

  • Followed by a stacktrace containing some or all of the following functions:

    PopEmit<SerialCost, SerialProps>::emitMatchProperties(bool)
    PopMergeUnionDistinct<SerialCost, SerialProps>::cloneToPll()
    OptGlobal::_GblAddTopLevel(bool)
    OptGlobal::GblOptimize(int*)
