2102997 - Error "authentication string mismatch" or "authentication string may not match" after start of SQL Anywhere high availability system using database mirroring

Symptom

  • After setup of high availability system using database mirroring
  • High availability database does not become available
  • Error message in database server message log:
    • Version 12 and higher: Database "<mirror-server-name>" mirroring:  mirror connection to server "<server-name>" failed: authentication string mismatch
    • Version 10 & 11: Database "<mirror-server-name>" mirroring:  mirror connection to partner failed: authentication string may not match
