2115831 - BI4: performance issue when loading a dashboard containing several Query prompt selectors

Symptom

  • The dashboard is taking time to initialize/open when it contains several Query prompt selectors

Environment

  • SAP Dashboards 4

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Launch Dashboard Design
  2. Create several queries in Query Browser containing BW variables
  3. For each BW variable, use the Query Prompt Selector component and bind it to the respective BW variable
  4. Preview the Dashboard

Cause

  • By Default, The List Of Values (LOVs) for the Query prompt selectors are automatically retrieved during initialization of the dashboard
  • The HttpWatch log will show several  'getLOV' calls during the initialization of the dashboard

Resolution

  • This is By-design

Workaround:

  • Use the List Builder component instead of Query prompt selector (but that would mean you need to retrieve the LOV via another bex query first in order to feed in the List builder): See attached example
