2123638 - Cannot see MEMO datatype in SAP Crystal Reports 2013

Symptom

  • MEMO data type objects do not display data in SAP Crystal Reports 2013.

Environment

  • MS SQL 2008 R2
  • SQL Server Native Client 10.0 ODBC Driver
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2013

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a report based on a ODBC Connection to MSSQL 2008 R2 relational database table which contains a MEMO field(nvarcharmax)
  2. You can see the MEMO type field in Field Explorer.
  3. Add the MEMO field to the “Design” section.
  4. Execute the report.

Cause

  • The value is too long and there is not enough space in the first page to display it.

Resolution

  • Right click on the MEMO field, click on Format Field, uncheck the Can Grow option.
  • Execute the report.
