2124220 - Open Client: 'Parameter colnum has an illegal value of 1' fails on blk_describe with SDK 16.0 - SDK for SAP ASE

Symptom

  • The call 'blk_describe' fails with the error message:
    • "ClientMessageHandler error: Open Client Message: 
      Message number: LAYER = 95 ORIGIN = 107 SEVERITY = 108 NUMBER = 98 
      Message String: describe(): blk layer: user error: Parameter colnum has an illegal value of 1"
  • This failure occurs with SDK 16.0.00.04 client library (64 bit) and the database server is ASE 15.0.3 (64 bit)
  • The exact same program runs correctly, without any issue with ASE 15.0 client library (64 bit) and ASE 15.0.3 database server (64 bit).
