Symptom
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
When execute a AO workbook which has more than one HANA Data Sources, and “Merge Variables” is selected. "Unsubmitted variables" is displayed instead of result. Or below warning message is displayed:
Variable <package name1>/<view name1>/<variable name1> is not compatible with variable <package name2>/<view name2>/<variable name2> (com.sap.ip.bi.bics.dataaccess.consumer.impl.selector.selection.CartesianProduct-IncompatibleVariables)
Environment
SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office
Reproducing the Issue
- Execute a AO workbook which has more than one HANA Data Sources.
- Select “Merge Variables” in "Components" tab.
- Input variables in prompt, click OK button.
Or
- Open a AO workbook which has more than one HANA Data Sources and “Merge Variables” is selected.
- Refresh.
Cause
The variables in HANA are local to each view, it is not global as in BW, so we don’t offer a merge across each view. It means the “Merge Variables” is not supported fro different views when HANA Data Sources are used in AO. Variable merging with HANA views only works if the same view is inserted multiple times.
Resolution
Please do not use “Merge Variables” for different HANA views.
