Symptom

  • REORG DEFRAG does not progress after some time.
  • Command DBCC stack traces on the spid which is running REORG DEFRAG:

  • Killing the REORG DEFRAG spid will produce error 1265:

An illegal attempt was made to release an invalid lock or a lock that is not owned by the process family (lr=0x0x1af20fae0, lrmagic=f).
