2135459 - ASE error 3914: "Illegal internal transaction status" when executing Dynamic SQL - SAP ASE CE

Symptom

  • Running ASE CE
  • Execution of Dynamic SQL query fails with ASE error 3914:

     server  Error: 3914, Severity: 26, State: 1
     server  Illegal internal transaction status.  This is an internal system error.

  • Query batch in question accesses objects with identity values
  • Query batch in question may be performing a TRUNCATE TABLE
  • Resubmission of the same query batch runs to completion successfully
  • Problem does not occur on ASE Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP) releases
