Symptom

You see the following error information in HANA trace or output of saphostctrl command:

Error: SelectAlerts: Failed to select STATISTICS_CURRENT_ALERTS:
S1000:1:414:[SAP AG][LIBODBCHDB SO][HDBODBC]
General error;414 user is forced to change password:
alter password required for user SAPDBCTRL

OR,

While resetting the Software Update Manager (SUM), below error shows up in phase REV_PREPROC/SHDUNINST_DB_RES

Last error code set:

The hdbsql connection is not possible due to the following errormessage: * 414:

user is forced to change password: alter password required for user SAPHANADBSHD
