2138627 - Process instance cannot be started due to ORA-01653 error

Symptom

It is not possible to trigger a new BPM process instance either using the Process Repository or Web Services Navigator. In the defaulttraces the following error appears:

SQL error occurred on connection apbpd:BPD:SAPSR3DB: code=1,653, state="72000", message="ORA-01653: unable to extend table SAPSR3DB.BC_BPEM_BL_ENTRY by 8192 in tablespace PSAPSR3DB";
SQL statement is "INSERT INTO BC_BPEM_BL_ENTRY" ("ENTRY_ID","CONTAINER_ID","USER_ID","EVENT_TYPE","OCCURED_ON","LOG_CONTEXT","CONTEXT_CLASS","COMMITED","AUTOINC","CL_NODE_IDENT") VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)".
