2142117 - Discarded Records or Invalid function argument error on using non-numeric values in to_integer function - SAP ESP

Symptom

  • In an SAP Event Stream Processor (ESP) 5.1 project, strings are converted to integer values using the construct "ifnull(to_integer(stringvalue), nullvalue)".
  • When non-numeric values are supplied, the following error is written into the log file and the corresponding record is getting discarded:

9640 | container | [SP-3-131082] (71.807) sp(10160) CompiledStream(AnalysisStream): Invalid function arguments.string_tointeger

  • The file with discarded records contains the following message:

Stream(): error occurred in computation of row. (tid=1)
An internal error has occurred. ComputeVm of label l_AnalysisStream_InputData for logic <InputData EntryId="112" EntryValue="samplestring"/>.
