2144638 - Enterprise Manager have a long SmartStor duration

Symptom

The Introscope Enterprise Manager generates a set of metrics after a cycle of 15 seconds which describe the current state of the EM. These metrics are registered in the perflog file and can be used to analyze the overall performance of the EM as well as to identify and prevent issues.

The SmartStor Duration is one of these metrics and it shows the time in milliseconds spent writing data to the SmartStor database during the 15 seconds cycle. This metric is indicates whether the SmartStor disk I/O write performance is keeping up with the current workload.

When a SmartStor cycle exceeds the amount of time expected, and presents consistently high values,  this indicates inadequate disk-write bandwidth for the metric load being handled. If inconsistent values are observed, this indicates contention for disk-related resources.

An optimal SmartStor Duration metric value is less than 3500 ms [3.5 seconds].

The SmartStor Duration value must be less than 15,000 ms [15 seconds]. Any metric value greater than 15 seconds indicates a critically overloaded Enterprise Manager.
