2151848 - Error Message "Error while updating employee's organizational assignment"

Error message "An error occurred while updating the employee's organizational assignment" is triggered when trying to modify the hire date of an employee.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Navigate to the Personnel Administration work center and select the Employees view.
2. Open the required Employee ID.
3. Go to the Employment tab and select the Work Agreement subtab.
4. Click the Change Hire Date button.
5. Enter a past date in the hire date field.
6. Click Save.

Error Messages:

• [!] An error occurred while updating the employee's organizational assignment.

The employee was initially hired as a Service Agent and later transitioned to an Internal Employee.

1. An employee was hired as a service agent in the system with Org Unit: 9999 and Job: Job1 on 05.07.2013.
2. The service agent underwent a job change on 03.02.2014; consequently, while the Org Unit remained 9999, the Job was updated to Job2
3. Eventually, the service agent was hired as an internal employee, effective 01.08.2014, while maintaining the same Org Unit and Job combination as outlined in step 2.

A request has been made to change the internal employee's hire date to 01.10.2010; however, this is not supported because the employee served as a service agent from 05.07.2013 to 31.07.2014, with their internal employee tenure starting on 01.08.2014.

Such a backdated change in the hire date would effectively erase the employee's tenure as a service agent.

If there is a need to reflect the employee's seniority in the company for reasons such as qualifying for senior employee benefits, this can be accomplished by updating the Service Start Date in the Personnel File
