2152126 - EgAlloc: MmxMalloc failed errors followed by ST22 dumps, SM21 errors or additional symptoms

Symptom

You may have any of the following symptoms:

  • In transaction ST22 appears the shortdump RESIZE_EM_ALLOC_ERROR or SPOOL_INTERNAL_ERROR;        
  • In syslog transaction SM21 appears the HTTP_NO_MEMORY errors; 
  • There are Update records in status "Init" in transaction SM13;    
  • Trying to access to back-end system via webgui session, you get following returning error in the browser:

    URL Link: http://<hostname>:<port nr>/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=<client>

    500 SAP Internal Server Error

    ERROR: New session was refused due to memory bottleneck (termination: ABORT_MESSAGE_STATE)

  • Some of the following errors are observed in Work Process traces (dev_w<nr>):
X  *** ERROR => EgAlloc: MmxMalloc failed (9). see also file 'eg_oom_mm.dump' [egxx.c       607]
X  {root-id=005056952E041ED4A892703398875816}_{conn-id=005056952E041ED4A892703398877816}_1
X  *** ERROR => EmIAllocMmResourceEg: EgAlloc(445360) failed 5 [emxx.c       4249]

or

M  *** WARNING => DpResourcesOk: many EG blocks entries (<nnnnn>) [dpxxtool2.c  8098]

in case of SPOOL_INTERNAL ERROR also the following line appears:

S  *** ERROR => no more memory for open spool handle [rspoooh.c    301]

in newer releases additional lines appear like:

X  *** ERROR => EgAlloc: out of memory, check em/global_area_MB and eg_oom_mm.dump file for memory allocations. [egxx.c       628]
