2153042 - HANA SQL Error 7 - ALTER TABLE fails with "feature not supported: cannot modify type of column table to column"

Symptom

The Software Update Manager (SUM) log file or any other HANA client shows the below SQL error code on execution of a particular ALTER TABLE ... ALTER TYPE statement on the HANA database:
