SAP Knowledge Base Article - Preview

2155767 - SAP Service SAP<SID>_NN fails to start: Error 13 EACCES*: Permission denied OR: The data is invalid

Symptom

When starting a SAP Windows service (name = SAP<SID>_<inst.nr.>) it terminates immediately  with the following message:

An error in event viewer application log can be found for source  SAP<SID>_<inst.nr> similar to this:

"Unable to open trace file sapstartsrv.log. (Error 13 EACCES*: Permission denied OR: The data is invalid.) [ntservsserver.cpp 3546]"
