2157310 - No Data Shown in Financial Data Source Preview

You are doing a preview of a Financial Data Source and receive an info message:

'No report data available to display; check the selection'

along with an empty result list.

However, when you run reports on the same data source you are well able to retrieve data.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Business Analytics work center.
2. Go to the Design Data Sources view.
3. Find a Financial Data Source, for example: G/L Account Period Totals / Balances.
4. Hit Preview button.

You'll receive above info message. But reports on that data source (for example: Trial Balance) show data as expected.

It is not unusual and not incorrect when a Financial data source does not display any data in preview mode. The reason is that many Financial reports have mandatory selection parameters on purpose because of interdependencies between such parameters. Due to these interdependencies a report could logically not produce any meaningful data. For example, report Trial Balance requires parameters Company, Set of Books and Accounting Period/Year before it can be executed. As the data source preview does not support such parameter entry the report output is empty.

This is not a technical issue. Please make use of reports based on the respective data source to view system data.
