2158287 - How do I report on ‘Time In Position’ field in ODS/Advanced Reporting and People Analytics Report Story

How do I report on ‘Time In Position’ field in ODS/Advanced Reporting and People Analytics Report Story? The field is available in EC under the ‘Job Information’ portlet. However, I am unable to locate the field in ‘Job Information’ table in Advanced Reporting / People Analytics Report Story

Advanced Reporting (ODS)

1. Login the instance
2. Go to Reporting
3. Report Center > click on New button > select Canvas
4. Employment > Global Job Information > Time in Position not available. ( same for Time in Job, Time in Location, Time in Company )

People Analytics Report Story

2. Go to Reporting
3. Report Center > click on New button > select Story
4. Employment > Job Information > Time in Position not available. ( same for Time in Job, Time in Location, Time in Company )

Time In Position is a transient field, the value of the field is a calculated on the fly and is not stored in the database. (same for Time in Job, Time in Location, Time in Company)

The value displayed here is a difference in Years, Months and Days (2 Years, 3 Months and 5 Days for example) between the Current date and the ’Position Entry Date’.

As the value of the field changes every day, the value is not stored in the database and is calculated on the fly when the ‘Job Information’ portlet is accessed.

As the value is not stored, it is not possible to report on this field.

The TimeIn Calculation calculates the number of years/months/days an employee has worked on a job, position, company, location, department or pay scale level. This value is transient.

It is not possible to report on this field in the exact format as it appears in (2 Years, 3 Months and 5 Days) the instance.

However, the values 2.26 Years or 27.16 Months or 827 Days (approximately) can be derived using the calculated columns feature in Advanced Reporting and Story Query Designer.

This also holds true for other fields where the values are displayed in Years, Months and Days format calculated as difference between current date and another field.
