  • How to perform searches using different permission roles?
  • Is it possible to grant different set of fields and target population for the users to search on?

SAP SuccessFactors Succession Management

The Talent Search introduces a new paradigm in securing search data. This feature allows customers to provision different field sets for different employee groups to search upon, in order to maintain robust data privacy.

A sample scenario that can be supported by this configuration is shown below:

  • Nancy Nash is an HR Business Partner (HR BP) and supports the Engineering Department
  • She is also a Manager and has a team of 5 people reporting to her
  • She is an Employee and part of a company that has 10,000 employees

The above diagram illustrates how Nancy Nash can be included in three different roles (HRBP, Manager, and Employee). Each role can then be configured with a unique set of search fields relevant for that role, and a target population applicable.

An employee in multiple roles will see a dropdown on the search form to choose between the target populations.

Selecting a Search Role

When a user is part of multiple permission roles that grant permission for Talent Search fields, the user will be able to select which role he/she would like to use when performing the search.

In the Talent Search page, the user can click on "Settings" and select the desired search role under "Perform this search as: ". After selecting another role, the Talent Search page will be refreshed to display the set of fields available for search within the selected permission role. The search will then be performed against the target population defined for the selected permission role.
