Symptom
Here the requirement is to change historical data/record without changing other existing records in the portlet.
Environment
Employee Central: Employee Data Import
Reproducing the Issue
Let us consider the historical portlet Compensation Information. In this example, the user has two records with effective dates 01/04/2011 and 01/04/2012. In the latest record, the Base Salary amount is changed from 1,000 to 2,000.
This amount is wrong. We have to change it to 2,500 without entering a new record and it should be through import (we have many employees for whom similar changes should be made).
Cause
If we do an Incremental Load, a new rocord will get added which is not the requirement. If we do a simple Full Purge, all previous records will get deleted and only the new record will be available. Assuming that we have to make similar changes for many employees, it is not possible to make the changes manually. Hence, we have to do it through import.
Resolution
In this case we have to download the import template "Pay Component Recurring" from Admin Centre --> Import Employee Data. If the number of records and employees are small, we can fill up data in the csv file manually, else we can run an ad-hoc report to collate the data for the csv file. We have to fill up the csv file with data for all the records of the employee(s) in the portlet. In our example, the employee has two records in the Compensation Information portlet for recurring payments.
Now, we can do a Full Purge import as following.
This will correct the data in the latest record without adding a new record or changing/deleting the first record.
