2163003 - '501 Not Implemented' error during PI-AEX initial setup wizard

Symptom

The following error occurs in step "Create Integration Server and Business System" when executing Configuration Wizard: PI-AEX initial setup:

Exception in step "SystemLandscapeSetup_maintainAEXBusinessSystem_2"
Exception details :
com.sap.sld.api.wbem.exception.CIMCommunicationException: CIM_ERR_FAILED: HTTP response code: 501 Not Implemented (unsupported-protocol-version)

You're using central SLD on e.g., Solution Manager and the SLD version is 7.0x.
